You Are Invited To:
Another attempt of a St. Charles eating establishment trying to be trendy and break out of the chain and strip mall box. This “coffeehouse meets winery” hang-out kind of place with a few Main Street St. Charles gifts thrown in, seem to do pretty well for what it is. Cute, bright, and cozy inside and a winery-esque outside patio. The employees are very friendly, but they seemed understaffed the evening I was there resulting in slower service. Nothing wrong with making the evening (and two bottles of wine) last with some girlfriends.
WHAT YOU GET:
Everything from your run of the mill breakfast, tapas, soups, salads, and wraps with, yes, wine pairings. I have always been curious as to which wine would compliment my tuna sandwich or BLT. You can then top off your with a dessert and a latte.
Spinach Artichoke Dip
Amazing! – So cheesy! Creamier than most spin dips you get at other places. Perfect for the baguette slices. This was my favorite food item I tried!
Baguette with Dipping Oil
Awesome! – Yes, more baguette….and look at that balsamic “R”. How cute!
French Onion Soup
Alright. There’s the baguette again! The soup broth was slightly watery and bland. Nothing to write home about.
Zesty Asian Salad and The Frenchman (roasted beef with bleu cheese, caramelized onion and herbed mayonnaise on a crispy baguette)
Alright. An odd pairing, I know. That’s what I was in the mood for. Don’t judge. The salad was mediocre and the roast beef was a bit dry. The sandwich as a whole sounded better on the menu than it tasted.
WHAT OTHERS ORDERED:
Chicken Salad Sandwich and Caesar Salad
Turkey Wrap and Fruit Salad
In case you were keeping score: Baguette – 4, Pretzel Bread – 1, and Croissant – 1
COME HUNGRY…..RETURN FOR WINE TASTING AND LIVE MUSIC.
