You Are Invited To:
Ashley & Michelle
Downtown – Washington Ave.
Stop you in your tracks decor right when you walk into this large eatery. From the open air second level to the awesome light fixtures hanging from the ridiculously high ceiling, there’s no lack of interesting things to look at. It’s just one of those places where you want to hang out for a long while.
WHAT YOU GET:
The menu is atypically typical because they offer your expected dishes, but they switch them up and make things a little bit more exciting.
Chips and Salsa
Pick 2 Tamale Appetizer: Butternut Squash w/Honey Mole and Goat Cheese, and Chipotle Chicken w/Sweet Corn, Ricotta Cheese and Salsa Verde
Fine – I liked the butternut squash version a lot. It could’ve used a little bit more squash to tamale ratio, but it was still pretty darn satisfying. The chicken version had a kick that about knocked me out of my chair, considering Michelle ordered this one and I paid no attention that it was chipotle chicken. Now, I can handle chipotle (don’t think I’m a wuss), I just wasn’t expecting it.
Awesome – I have to agree on the “too much tamle compared to stuffing ratio” issue. The butternut option was quite delightful and different. Overall, a good starter.
Cadillac Fajitas – Shrimp, Scallops, Carne Asada, Bacon, Onions, Green Peppers, and Chile con Queso
Fabulous (Fan-freaking-tastic) – FoodieSTL did not steer us wrong! This is the most delightful combination of fajita fillings. With several meat options in this dish, you can experience surf in one tortilla and then turf in another.
Amazing! Seasoned to perfection, everything in this skillet was so tasty. The light drizzle of chile con queso made it go the extra mile. But wait….there’s more….bits of thick cut hammy bacon hide amongst the sautéed veggies. Score! Need more of these little guys, please!
WHAT OUR FRIEND ORDERED:
